ABOUT US

Our Purpose

You would love your child to be more coordinated, mindful, confident, healthy and calm. They just want to be upside down, inside out and engaged by games and challenges! Our purpose has always been to create programs that perfectly blend the two goals. The result- confident, happy, healthy kids who have all the tools to take on life’s plethora of challenges.

Flying Yogis is recognized as being synonymous with Yoga and Mindfulness for the development of our children today into positive, happy and healthy adults of tomorrow. We encourage parents to think about the health and well-being of their children by giving the children the opportunity to develop a healthy body that will enable them to nurture a healthy mind with positivity and a smile.

HEALTHY BODIES = HEALTHY MINDS

Our Vision

Our VISION is to see that every child enjoys a healthier mind-body connection regardless of their background. We can achieve our vision through our commitment to providing fun learning in a loving and nurturing care environment. Our focus is on developing the foundations of the mind-body connection whereby children can develop and foster their own unique character so that they can achieve their aspirations in life. As children grow into positive and happier adults, they will look back on their time spent at Flying Yogis programs with heartfelt warmth, gratitude, and happiness. They will remember the inspiration from and connection with our wonderful teachers and the impact our classes had on them becoming confident human beings.

Our Yoga philosophies are taught in a way that encourage children to explore, be curious, build confidence, develop self-esteem and discover their talent for themselves. Each child is offered the most exciting mind-body experience possible by engaging in fun yoga and acrobatics activities.  At Flying Yogis, we believe that fun yoga and acrobatics will deliver significant health and well-being benefits for each child so that they can flourish and reach their fullest potential.

Flying Yogis places safety as our number one priority for children, parents, and our passionate team. We ensure that our environment, our carefully chosen equipment and our resources are at all times safe for our children. Our team is highly trained to ensure that our learning environment is safe for the children so that they can enjoy and have fun.

At Flying Yogis, we believe that each valued team member throughout the organization is treated as part of our family with inclusion, respect, and dignity. Together, our family share the passion to achieve our vision every day in everything we do because we know that our work presents a 100% positive impact on each child, parent, and community around them. Each member of our Yogi family is completely connected to their inner child and consequently lives their life bursting with positivity, passion, and purpose. The children can feel our enthusiasm with our approach toward them and this encourages them to feel good ab

Our Story

Flying Yogis started out as “Bendybods” classes at Prana Space Yoga Studio in Rose Bay in 2004. As our programmes morphed and grew via our inspiring teachers and students, we became the Flying Yogis. We now operate in various locations around Sydney and are expanding.

We have created unique programmes that incorporate yoga’s mindfulness with Gym and Acro’s agility and coordination for kids. This gives your children fun ways to gain all the tools needed to cope with our hectic lives: focus; trust; confidence; cooperation; self-esteem, awareness; resilience and fearlessness in a completely non-competitive environment. We work in with physios; O.T.s; psychologists and other therapists to help children with specific needs and are well respected by these groups as a diverting and fun adjunct to their work.

Our team of inspiring teachers come from various backgrounds; gym; dance; child psychology; education.. Our trainings are rigorous. We aim to create the kind of teachers that bring out your child’s personal best.

Most of all, whether you come weekly to courses; attend our holiday workshops; come to a Birthday party, have flying yogis teach at your school; or as an adult become part of our team and do our teacher training; you will have a fun and joyful experience.

Class Descriptions

Family Yogis 2.5-3.5 years + carer

Yoga inspired sequences; vinyasa flow; agility; flexibilty… and of course, what we’re famous for; all the gym techniques that kids love (tumbles; flips; handstands; backbends- and crazy acro maneouvres).. We’re also excited to be introducing GYmnastics to this group with our growing amount of apparatus.

Bendybods Preschool 3.5-5 years

Children going to school in 2023 (or 2024 if they can be left at the studio without a carer)

Kids take flight as this is the first age group done without parents in the studio?*

In our Bendybods classes, we work on coordination; agility; flexibility; fun yoga poses; new gymnastic challenges and concentration games. Stories about mindfulness and other yoga philosophies are introduced in fun ways. We also sneak in little lessons associated with literacy and numeracy. They’ll not only be able to spell and count, they’ll be able to do it with their bodies!

*Children progress better this way. If your child isn’t ready to do classes without carer present, we have increased the number of Family classes- which is a fun class to do with parent/ carer.

Pure Acro Classes

Children are at their most agile at this age… so the standard can really take off.

Firstly we instill focus and concentration skills via 20 mins of breathing and yoga. Then we work on various tumbling skills according to the child’s age and abilities, such as:

Rolls; handstands; cartwheels and variations; backbends; walkovers; somersaults; handsprings.

Mindfulness relaxation and cooldown follows straight after.

Progressive Acro Level 2

Our Level 2 acro classes allow the students to push themselves and master new skills.

Kids that are confident in handstands, cartwheels, backbends and backbend variations will love this class!

This class is great for focused and well behaved kids who can’t wait to try new, tricky skills.

We will assess who is ready for our level 2 program, so please don’t book into the level 2 classes until we have assess them.

Pure Yogis Classes

9-18 Years Old

This class is for kids 9 thru to teen years who just want to focus on yoga. We don’t use the gymnastics apparatus much in this class at all. This class can get quite challenging as the yoga we teach is quite progressive, so it’s by no means the “easy option”…

Prerequisites for this class:
(1) that your child concentrates well
(2) shows interest in vinyasa flow sequences and doesn’t become distracted doing them
(3) listens well and takes adjustments and corrections confidently.
(4) is mindful

if you find your child is “working towards” the above characteristics, please select our regular flying yogis classes for a few terms before asking if they are suitable for this classs. The students in this class are here to concentrate, focus, and work mindfully towards quite a challenging yoga practice.

School Pick Up

Flying Yogis can now pick up children from Annandale Public School and bring them to the studio for their snacks; get changed; colouring in and mindful activities before their class starts.

We should be back at the studio by 3:15pm- so if other families from other schools would like to drop their children in early for some mindful activities before the class, then you can book in and drop them in at 3:15pm

Children should bring their own snacks for afternoon tea.

Cost is $135 for the term, or $15 for casual drop offs. Please let us know via email if you are dropping off casually.
