CHECK OUT OUR COMPLETE TIMETABLE.

STREET ART PROJECT 1: BANKSY BALLOON ART

Banksy is synomymous with the era that Graffiti became a respected Art and Communication Form.

The Balloon Girl (Child!) will be done as a process art project using recycled materials.  Kids get so involved and focused and don’t need to be “good at art’ to make this look awesome. This gives all children confidence in their own creativity.

For this abstract art project we ask each child to bring an empty cereal box. (Yep – a bit of recycling).

DATE: BOTH STUDIOS- MONDAY 4TH JULY.

WITH LISA CHIMES

STREET ART PROJECT 2- BASQUIAT FACES

Jean Michel Basquiat rose to fame in the 1980s- and his unique style, inspired by abstract & graffiti art, merged completely with post punk, hip hop and street rap eras. Whilst this art shocked at the time, the influence on our young modern artists is immeasurable.

DATE BOTH STUDIOS- TUESDAY 5TH JULY

WITH LISA CHIMES

STREET ART PROJECT 3- GRAFFITI FONTS AND NAMES

Graffiti started out with a poor reputation. People couldn’t see past the expressing of confronting social opinions and the effacing of public property.

These days, you just have to look at the walls of many of the Inner West’s main buildings (and even a few in the East!) to see that Graffiti is now an inspiring form of mainstream art.

The art of graffiti is so cool and relatable to children.

This project gives the children ideas how to write their names and inspirational words in Graffiti styles.

DATE: BOTH STUDIOS- WEDNESDAY 5TH JULY

WITH LISA CHIMES.

STREET ART PROJECT 4- YOGA BODIES- HARING STYLE!

Keith Haring’s images on walls of buildings and streetscapes bring joy and happiness to those who pass by. The children will learn about his contribution to the Modern Art World and the social statements he made.

We will be tracing their bodies in yoga poses and teaching them how to complete them Haring Style.

Dates: Both Studios – Monday 11th July

STREET ART PROJECT 5- Kandinsky- Concentric Circles

This project will teach the children that there is creativity and art in such simple ideas. Kandinsky’s circles break so many traditional art rules. The use of vibrant colours and blending are also interesting traits of these artworks.

Lisa will introduce the children to Wassily Kandinsky before teaching them the techniques to master their own versions of this art style

DATES: both studios. Tuesday 12th July

STREET ART PROJECT 6- Matisse Collages

Creating compositions and artistic stories using cutout painted paper (decoupage) was part of Matisse’s signature style in the 1940s.

Lisa will be giving the children the background to this fun and accessible style of art and show the techniques Matisse would have used to achieve some of his most famous pieces

Dates: Thursday 14th- Both Studios

STREET ART PROJECT 7- Collaborative Mural Project

It’s time to spruce up the looks of our studios. We are getting the children to help us with some fun mural cutouts we can hang on our walls.

We’ll trace them doing their favourite yoga poses then they can decorate how they feel. We hope to have them on our walls after the holidays.
