Here, we explore the different styles of yoga offered at our studios, each designed to cater to the unique needs of our practitioners.
Hatha Yoga
Who it’s for: Beginners and general level practitioners, people looking for a gentle introduction to yoga, those wanting to improve flexibility and strength, individuals seeking relaxation. There may be some physical challenges, however the goal of the class is stress management, time out and a good old stretch!
Description: Hatha Yoga is a classic and foundational style of yoga that focuses on physical postures (asanas) and breath control (pranayama). It is often slow-paced and gentle, making it perfect for beginners or those looking for a more relaxed practice. Hatha Yoga classes typically include a variety of poses that stretch and strengthen the body, along with breathing exercises that help calm the mind. We offer both advanced classes for seasoned practitioners and beginners courses for those new to yoga.
Vinyasa Flow
Who it’s for: Athletes, people looking for a dynamic and challenging workout, those who enjoy fluid movement. It’s also ideal for active or stressed people who would like to start Yoga but find it hard to relax with more static styles of Yoga. This class is very active, then ends with calming deep stretches and meditation.
Description: Vinyasa Flow is characterized by its fluid, dance-like movements, seamlessly linking breath with motion. Each class flows through a sequence of poses that build heat, endurance, flexibility, and strength. This style is great for those who enjoy a vigorous practice and want to get their heart rate up while improving coordination and focus. We offer advanced Vinyasa classes for experienced yogis and beginners courses to help newcomers get started. Our classes are a fun and creative way to stay fit and strong. Emphasis is on mindful movements; improved core strength, tone and balance.
Yin Yoga
Who it’s for: Stressed individuals, those looking for deep relaxation and flexibility, people interested in meditation. Careful- deep Yin classes can be confronting if you are holding alot of emotional and physical tension.
Description: Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style where poses are held for longer periods, typically three to five minutes. This practice targets the deep connective tissues, promoting flexibility and joint health while encouraging a meditative state of mind. Yin Yoga is ideal for those looking to relieve stress, increase circulation, and find a deeper sense of calm and introspection. In each class, we can offer more therapeutic options if you are holding pain or tension; or deeper more confronting stretches, if you are ready to deal with inner emotional pain and strain.
Yin Yoga has a surreptitious way of helping you sort out problems in your life or give you the answer or inspiration you need to make important life decisions. This is because when your body and mind is in the most relaxed state, you find the solutions to your problems are within .
Kundalini Yoga
Who it’s for: Spiritual seekers, those interested in energy work and meditation, people dealing with trauma.
Description: Kundalini Yoga combines physical postures, breathing techniques, chanting, and meditation to awaken and harness the energy at the base of the spine. It is a deeply spiritual practice that aims to elevate consciousness and promote healing. This style is excellent for individuals looking to deepen their spiritual practice and release emotional blockages.
Handstand Workshops
Who it’s for: People looking to challenge themselves, those interested in building upper body strength and balance, yoga practitioners wanting to advance their practice.
Description: Handstand Workshops are designed to help you master the art of balancing on your hands. To master handstands, you need: core strength; shoulder stability; hamstring flexibility; great body confidence and awareness. So a handstand class is so much more than just practicing kicking up into handstands. It’s a whole body and mind workout.
These workshops focus on building the necessary strength, alignment, and technique required for a successful handstand. They are perfect for those looking to push their limits, improve their balance, and add a fun and challenging element to their yoga practice. We offer advanced workshops for those ready to perfect their handstands and beginner-friendly sessions for those new to inversions. Our classes are fun and community building. You can find inspirational handstand classes at both our Annandale and Bondi Junction Studios.
AcroYoga
Who it’s for: Individuals seeking a playful and social practice, partners looking to build trust and communication, those interested in acrobatics and yoga fusion.
Description: AcroYoga blends the wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics, and the loving kindness of healing arts. This practice involves two or more people working together to perform acrobatic poses and sequences. AcroYoga is great for building trust, communication, and a sense of community while enhancing strength, flexibility, and balance. Flying Yogis is becoming known as a Sydney Centre for AcroYoga thanks to our regular weekly classes and monthly workshops with amazing and experienced coaches. Our studio provides advanced AcroYoga classes for experienced pairs and beginners courses to introduce the fundamentals.
Meditation
Who it’s for: Individuals seeking mental clarity and stress relief, those interested in mindfulness and self-awareness, people looking for a spiritual practice.
Description: Meditation is a practice of mindfulness and concentration aimed at achieving mental clarity, emotional calmness, and a heightened state of awareness. Our meditation classes offer guided sessions to help you develop a regular practice, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. This practice is suitable for anyone looking to cultivate inner peace and mental resilience. We offer advanced meditation classes for seasoned practitioners and beginners courses to help you start your journey.
Beginner Yoga Courses
Who it’s for: Individuals new to yoga, people looking to build a strong foundation, those seeking a gentle introduction to yoga practice.
Description: Our Beginner Yoga courses are designed to introduce the basic principles of yoga, including foundational poses, proper alignment, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods. These courses provide a supportive and non-intimidating environment for newcomers to build confidence and establish a regular yoga practice. Don’t think beginners courses are easy! Learning to do each pose properly, which is the aim of the course, is actually tough and confronting. We have found when students have done plenty of “Vinyasa FLow” or “Power Yoga” but haven’t learned the foundations, they find poses easy. Why? because they often aren’t doing it correctly.
Advanced Yoga Classes
Who it’s for: Experienced yoga practitioners, those looking to deepen their practice, individuals seeking more challenging poses and sequences.
Description: Advanced Yoga classes are tailored for seasoned practitioners who want to push their limits and explore more complex poses, advanced breathing techniques, and deeper meditation practices. These classes often include inversions, arm balances, and extended holds, requiring a solid foundation in yoga. Our more progressive classes are suitable for experienced students who are comfortable with all basics and are working on: handstands; backbends; arm balances and unusual twists and folds. If you’re ready to take your practice to the next level, please ask one of our teachers if you are ready for our advanced classes.
