Vinyasa

This is an open Hatha vinyasa flow class. It’s ideal for those who’ve completed our beginners course, and those with some experience in Yoga.

It’s a whole body and mind workout with stretches; strength work; challenges; relaxation and meditation techniques.

  The Flying Yogis Beginners Yoga Courses are the most detailed courses you can find. As well as learning how the pose is broken down to suit all levels, you will learn their benefits; the mythology behind their sanskrit names; and you will learn pranayama (breathing) and dharana (focused meditation). This Introduction to GymnasticsΒ  Course for Adults shows the safest way you can limber and strengthen up to enjoy fun Tumbling & AcrobaticsΒ  Skills Our next 6 week beginners yoga courses are taught by Flying Yogis most experienced Acrobatics & Gymnastics Coaches.

Why should kids have all the fun? This class will keep you moving, fit and agile as well as inspiring you to accomplish skills you never thought possible. Starting with a Yoga Warmup for focus and Flexibility; moving to fitness and strength circuits; breaking down specific gymnastics drills; then gymnastics circuits on our equipment. You’ll get your handstands; backbends; cartwheels; bridges and rolls in no time!

Take some of the most gentle stretches you know; hold them for 2+ minutes- then you know the true meaning of overcoming strain; injury; blockages; emotional baggage & pain- until you eventually achieve a bliss state. Yin yoga might look like you’re doing nothing at all- however, it is one of the deepest forms of relaxation you can find, as it deals with the “issues stored in our tissues” … and leaves us, ideally, without a worry in the world.

In order to achieve or master these 2 invigorating skills, you need to strengthen and mobilise every part of your body. To do this, we have structured these classes loosely around monthly cycles. Join in at any time, but note the monthly structure.

  • Week 1 Hips &Β  Hamstrings

You would be surprised how important hip and leg flexibility and strength are to nailing a handstand and learning press handstands. Strong hammies, glutes and quads also support backbends and their variations. This class aims to show you how to kick up into handstand with control and confidence (for beginners) or show you how strong hammies can enable you to press into handstand (for advanced)

  • Week 2 – Back Strengthening

Whilst it’s obvious that a strong back will enable you to go deeper into your backbends and bridges, a strong back will also enable you to kick up into handstands confidently. The back strengthening drills will inform all the fun scorpion variations (beginners); or standing to bridge/ handstand to bridge skills

  • Week 3 – Shoulder Strength

The shoulders and neck are the “hips” of a handstand… they are going to keep you stable upside down. And they need to be strong, and where they are positioned in the handstand has to be understood – whether you are just learning, or ready to free balance. This class directs the students towards competent kicking up in forearm balances and handstands (beginners); or jumping to handstands; and free balancing techniques (moore advanced) Those who have the confidence to support their handstand well with their shoulders and neck will be shown handstand to bridge and “hollow back” scorpion variations

  • Week 4 – Core Strength

This class teaches you how to engage your core for smooth and controlled inversions. Planks; dish poses will be fine tuned … The core work will teach you how to go upside down without a “banana” back (for beginners); and how to float and press into handstands (more advanced)

  • Week 5

If the month has a fifth week, we will either: summarise what has been covered over the other weeks focus on one of the areas we agree needs some work work on fun variations and whatever level you may be at.

This is a practice with our Senior Teacher. It is invite only as the basics are not covered at all. It is assumed you know all the basic versions of the poses and that you are already practicing stronger variations.Β 

This class includes: strong vinyasa flow; inversions; deep backbends; arm balances and bound poses.Β
